Homes under construction
In 1973, Javier Osés founded Construcciones ACR in Pamplona, the precursor of what is ACR today, which he still presides.
Only three years later, we took on our most ambitious project until then: the construction of our first residential building, a building with 54 flats.
As a result of the commitment and professionalism demonstrated by the team in this project, new challenges arrived. In a short time we became a benchmark in residential construction in Pamplona.
Expansión and diversification
Having consolidated in our region, we looked to other places. The first execution outside Navarre was the complete refurbishment of a building located on the emblematic Paseo de los Fueros in San Sebastián-Donostia.
In parallel to our territorial expansion, we decided to diversify our project portfolio with the residential and commercial sectors. The Berriozar industrial park in Navarre and the Santo Domingo market in Pamplona were developed during this period.
Professionalisation and avant-garde
The expansion initiated during the previous decade is being consolidated and we have projects in a large part of the country.
This territorial growth entailed an increase in organisational complexity, so we decided to professionalise the structure and processes. We led the way in the sector with the first closed-price project operations and by obtaining the AENOR quality certificate.
Some of the most noteworthy projects of this decade are the headquarters of the Parliament of Navarre, the Chivite Winery (designed by Rafael Moneo) in Arínzano, Navarre, and the factory owned by the multinational Kraft Heinz in La Rioja.
Innovation and new business
We initiated research projects in several areas, such as the creation of adaptable spaces in homes and the installation of smart lighting solutions. To articulate this innovative effort, we created the R&D+i department.
Two important changes are taking place. First, we began to integrate independent consultants into the board of directors in order to professionalise all areas of the company. In addition, we created a specific line of business: ACR Rehabilitación (refurbishment), to cope with the growing number of projects.
Throughout these years, projects as significant as the Centre for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) in Pamplona, the City of Music in Pamplona and the Hotel Sercotel Boulevard in Vitoria were executed.
We left our borders to undertake projects in France, Poland and Colombia and expanded our presence in Spain, with the opening of the Madrid office in 2011. In 2012 we created the Development division, which was spun off as an independent company in 2019, under the name Áurea Homes.
In 2015 we got hooked on Lean Construction and started implementing Last Planner System on our construction sites. Shortly thereafter, we methodologically articulated our collaborative philosophy and started the first collaborative processes.
We opened our Castile and Leon delegation, based in Valladolid, in 2020. A year that will go down in our history for the effort, commitment and collaboration shown by our employees, suppliers and customers during the health crisis.
In July 2021 we sold the developer Áurea Homes to AEDAS Homes, which allows us to focus on the construction business, where we are making great advances in Collaborative Processes and Industrialised Projects.
